In order to increase the information for establishing the quarries used in the main historical buildings of Western Andalussian Heritage, limestones fram «Sierra de Estepa» have been characterized. Limestones were formed in a shallow marine environment and they are homogeneous, very pure, compact, with low water-absorption and medium-high strength. These properties show the high quality of the rack as a building material. Oncomicrosparite with coarse grain and oncointrasparite varieties are the most suitable as building materials while the use of micritic and intrasparite limestones could be forbidden.
