A sedimentological study is made in three lithostratigraphic units of the Buntsandstein facies succesion. The outcrops are located in the area between Cuevas de Ayllón and Retortillo de Soria (Soria Province). Each of these units has been charactericed by a variety of facies associations. The T-1.2 unit is considered as a low sinuosity fluvial system. At least the lower and intermediate part of this unit are associated with an alluvial fan system related with the Somolinos Fault. The T-1.3 unit is interpreted as a gravelly low sinuosity braided system. To the East, this unit changes laterally into sandstones. The T-1.4 unit has been divided into three episodes corresponding, from base to top, to low, high and low sinuosity fluvial system respectively.
