Seven lithostratigraphical units of the Permian and Triassic in the Castilian Branch, of the Southern Iberian Ranges, between Cueva de Hierro (Cuenca) and Chelva (Valencia) are described and defined. They belong to the Buntsandstein and Muschelkalk Facies of a German-type Triassic.
26 sections have been studied by several different techniques to achieve the definition of the Units. Typical section for each one is described and previous literature has been revised.
Their lateral extent and paleogeography have been studied as well as their relationship to the Contemporaneous paleoreliefs and synsedimmentary tectonics.
