In the Talveila area (approx. 40 km. W of Soria, N Iberian Range), the stratigraphical record representing the late Toarcian/early Bajocien time-stratigraphic interval consists of a number of sedimentary sequences, separated by more or less important discontinuities. Individual sequences typically start with a horizon that contains reworked pebbles and /or ammonite «Steinkerns» and conclude with an omission and/or erosional surface, indicating a vertical increase in energy level. Ammonite biostratigraphy allowed the duration of this sequences to be established with precision. Presumably they are a reflection of short-term eustatic sea level changes during a period of relative• Sea-level lowstand (Aalenian).
