Abstract

During 1983-1986 excavations carried out in some Middle Pleistocene sites of the Sierra de Atapuerca (Burgos), a total of 141 human remains were recovered in the Sima de los Huesos site, one of the cavities of the Cueva Mayor-Cueva del Silo karst system. These findings come to be added to the ones, occurred in 1976 in the same site, which were attributed to hominids of the so called «anteneandertalians- group. Aa. offer in this paper the inventory of all the human fossils recovered up to the present in the Sima de los Huesos site. The mandibular remains and the isolated teeth show that at least ten individuals of different sexes and ages are represented in the Atapuerca hypodigm.
