Abstract


A mandible of a young elephant found at Ciempozuelos (Madrid) is identified as Elephas antiquus. Correlation with other paleontological sites of the Madrid basin were this taxa has been recorded allow us to assing the new locality to the middle-Iate Pleistocene (Riss-Würn).
