Abstract

In this work we analyze the kinematics of the Alhama de Murcia Fault in the area of Lorca-Totana, from Upper Pliocene to Presento In this analysis we make use of the information given by pliocene and quaternary sediments. An alternance of thrust and sinistral kinematics behaviours of the Alhama de Murcia Fault can be recognized. This behaviours broungt about for two shortering directions: NNE-SSO and NNO-SSE that control the structure and evolution of Guadalentín Basin and recent sediments. We also study the disposition of more significative earthquakes and its relations with principal shears. The Alhama de Murcia Fault control parcially that disposition and the kind of earthquakes.
