Abstract

A new species of planktonic foraminifera from the Middle Paleocene is described. This form is found in different areas of the Basque-Cantabrian Basin although its geographical distribution at that time was much wider as testified by its presence on the Betic Cordillera. In the studied stratigraphic sections this new species extends from the final meters of the «Calizas Rosas del Danés» (Danian Pink Limestones) to the marl level located immediately upwards, always within the Planorotalites pusilla Zone. Due to its morphological features it has been assigned to the Eoglobigerina genus.
