Abstract

The most complete remains of Hippidion sp. to the Pleistocene of Uruguay are described. They agree with a robust form with fore limbs relatively short to the large skull. Cranial, mandibles and postcranial characters are analized and compared with respect to others «hippidiformes» of South America. The depositional environment belong to floodplain facies of meandering fluvial systems.
